CLOSING THE BONES Closing Of the Bones is a shamanic tradition, originating from Ecuador and Mexico. Although this ancient lost practice can be found in similar rituals throughout many other parts of the world. A deeply healing, nurturing, and nourishing ritual that includes postpartum massage using the hands and rebozo shawls. On a physical level the gentle massage, rocking, and wrapping help move joints, muscles, tissues, and fluids to allow the body to return to optimal position after giving birth. It can also help aid the healing process of diastasis recti. On an emotional level, it provides space to rest and be held, and on an energetic level, it provides a space to release and bring things to a close. It is not only beneficial for postpartum women but for anyone going through big life transitions, from trauma and loss to new beginnings and endings. This message can be made at any time during postpartum when the woman feels she is ready. It can be extremely beneficial to receive not only one but several sessions during this delicate period. There is no time restraint for this ritual whether it is a few days or several years postpartum. It can still have the same effect in healing trauma.
